I mean - noone else ...
Kaj
Noone wanted to see
Bo reported the same and worse results, though
szeng
I will look into the problem Bo reported later
I think I will later have access to an odroid that he was testing on
Kaj
Undoubtedly the same cause. It was clear that there was way too much redrawing going on
My benchmark results have also gone up substantially. I'll resend them
They're under

The throughput improvement is probably due to the other X blitting function
Pekr
IIRC you also reported CPU usage being quite high ... is that more relaxed now?
Kaj
A bit, due to the throughput improvement. It's still not fast, but more normal
The performance on my machine is now becoming more comparable to other toolkits, but there's one big problem left, which might be a regression due to the new blitting
The small menu window with the six demo buttons is the only one that can be resized. When I do that, it still needs to really redraw the content, and that's still laggy, but the biggest problem seems to be that it creates a huge memory use in the X11 server
Pekr
Well, anyway - I remember my private chat with Cyphre ... I thought that SW rendering should be mostly OK for an average GUI on any platform, however Cyphre reported, that AGG can be slow on some ARM machines. Not sure it was about floating point units, but I was surprised about that .... recent phones are mostly OK for many apps ....
those are all good reports - a concrete case. Any such case can lead to a significant finding and ... fix ...
Kaj
The memory use in the R3 process is still high, but in the X11 server process it goes through the roof. It was using 800 MB after some resizing, causing the machine to swap. This might also be what makes redrawing unrelated windows laggy, by overloading X11. Closing the windows doesn't free the memory; it's only released from the X11 server process when closing the R3 process
szeng
There should be a memory leak somewhere, I am looking into it
szeng
Kaj, I think the memory leak you saw should be fixed. Please "upgrade".

Kaj
Better, the X server is not accumulating memory anymore
But there's still a leak, and the machine still starts swapping after resizing for a while
